why, just why?
What is the point of spamming this category on every single page that has no Spanish translation? See for example https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/w/index.php?title=Tag:amenity%3Dtourist_bus_parking&diff=2087341&oldid=2087290 Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 09:55, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
- This category is a hidden category, not spam. It is used to request that a page not available in Spanish be translated as soon as possible. It is used in the context of the WikiProject Spanish translation. It is similar to other existing categories in the wiki, such as Category:Translate to German, Category:Translate to Portuguese, etc. in the case of Spanish translations, there is a wikiproject with translators involved who try to give priority to these requested translations. --Dcapillae (talk) 10:25, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
- I have no problem with category itself. But is it useful to add it to every recently edited page that has no Spanish translation? Recently whenever I edit some page it is typical that next edits add this category. If this page is welcome on every single page without Spanish translation then it can be added directly by template:languages Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 10:58, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, it is useful. It lets us know which pages the Spanish-speaking community needs that are available in Spanish. The category should not be added to all pages without Spanish translation, that would be an improper use of it and would make it completely useless.
- Recently, @Jemily1: has requested many translations. Efforts are being made to prioritize these requests, although they are certainly many. It is not necessary or advisable to request translations for all the pages that have no translation, only for pages that really interest the mapper or the community at some point for some reason. In this way, translation efforts can be made where they are really needed. --Dcapillae (talk) 11:12, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
