Summary

Description

A rainy day in Seoul

Hongjimun Gate and Tangchundaeseong Fortress

This fortress was built in 1719 and provided a connection between Fortress Wall of Seoul and Bukhansanseong Fortress. The wall of the fortress was built to connect the two fortresses, and it corresponded with the square configuration of the ground between Fortress Wall of Seoul and Bukhansanseong Fortress. Indeed, this is a distinct characteristic of a Gwanmunseong Fortress.

Hongjimun has a gate house with 3 Kan in front and 2 Kan on the side of the arch. It has a hip roop like other normal fortresses. Ogansudaemun, the water gate beside Hongjimu, used five arches as its opening for warter.
