This is image should have an alpha channel, as is not very nice with that black background on white pages. Bruce89 22:59, 7 September 2006 (BST)
This image seems rather similar to the Megastars I made. Oh well, i rendered it with a white background...Ben. 00:13, 8 September 2006 (BST)
Bruce89, personally I thought the black background gave a good bit of contrast to the gold, which helped to make it stand out, but I don't have strong preferences. Ben, it is based on your images, which seemed to be coloured blue, bronze, and silver. I simply extended the theme to gold. Dmgroom 00:53, 8 September 2006 (BST)
- I suppose it did give a bit of contrast, perhaps it should have a bit of black around the edge, with it fading out to full transparency. Bruce89 12:27, 8 September 2006 (BST)
- The Alpha channel just seems to appear grey. Are all the pages would appear on not just white anyway?, therefore meaning that white would do fine.Ben. 15:46, 8 September 2006 (BST)
- I realise that all the pages are white anyway, but adding an alpha channel will allow it to be used on a coloured background. Unfortunately, IE won't like it, but I doubt many people here use it. Bruce89 16:02, 8 September 2006 (BST)
- According to this http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/2e/Layout_engine_usage_share.svg it would seem that most people use IE still, although I'm awair you said most people here. I for one use it, because it really doesnt bother me and is perfectly adiquate. I think therefore it should be uploaded without an alpha, and the background colours can be changed accordingly. (easy job). Ben. 16:47, 8 September 2006 (BST)
It would be nice to make all the awards into a set I think. As for having a background to give contrast, I tried smoothing the shading of stars into a white background (could be made alpha). I think there should be 3 different stars for the amount average amount of data uploaded and nodes created. I made all five...there here >>> http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/Image:Allstars.PNG ...Ben. 03:11, 8 September 2006 (BST)
