United States/Philippines I have known Russ since I was new to the OpenStreetMap community, and he has been a tremendous help during disaster activations, always demonstrating his passion for humanitarian work. His deep commitment to HOT, where he has served for many years, is clear, and I have no doubt he will bring the same dedication to everything he does. With his ongoing studies in an executive MBA program, Russ is well-positioned to guide HOT toward more strategic and impactful decisions for the future. With a long history with HOT, including roles as a volunteer, contractor, employee, and the first Chairperson for the Voting Members, I bring both experience and commitment. I believe HOT's best days are ahead, and I aim to guide the organization through any necessary transitions with a focus on strong governance and sound strategy while preserving our collaborative culture. My experience, motivation, and skills make me the right candidate to help HOT overcome challenges and capitalize on the successes we are currently experiencing.

Namibia/ Germany Anni has been an excellent board member in my opinion over the previous term. She is a deep thinker, a pragmatic doer, isn't afraid of hard / complex situations and engages deeply (in addition to the board work, she is on the GWG and has attended all of the Living Strategy sessions). I'd love to see her in post for another two years. I also think Anni is a great link person for other networks relevant to HOT, including slum associations and scientists / researchers. When I joined HOT's Board, I had very little knowledge and experience of the organisation's history and complexity. I was however ,and remain, very excited about what HOT is -- greater than the sum of it's parts, and what it can be for the places and communities who need the kinds of enabling environments for data generation and use that HOT can catalyse and spark the most.

The key aspects I hope to contribute to during another Board term is HOT's strategic and programmatic engagements in the spaces of localisation - especially the strengthening of regional hubs to lead this, and how we engage and enable data generation and use for climate adaptation and disaster preparedness with vulnerable and marginal urban communities along with our key data ecosystem partners and communities.

Kate Chapman Heather Leson United States Kate is an open source and OSM governance leader. She is very focused on supporting HOT's change and has lead our organization, including on the board, through many complex times. She brings business acumen, fundraising /strategic networks and a solid passion for OSM. I have been involved and supporting HOT since prior to its incorporation. Since those early days I have gained much more knowledge about non-profit governance and management. After returning to the board I led the search for our 3rd Executive Director and have been involved in the push to change the board make-up. My intent is for this to be my last term on the HOT board and I am running to support a smooth board transition to the new board structure. When I returned to the board a few years ago all the other board members left at the same time, the lack of continuity was tough and my hope is to not put the org in the same place.

Tanzania Hawa Adinani is an active OpenStreetMap contributor and community leader/organizer. A former OMDTZ project manager, she has vast experience working with communities on the ground and online. Hawa is also active in the HOT Community Working Group. I trust that Hawa will champion community voices and perspectives while serving in the board, ensuring a community-centered HOT organization. I have been involved with HOT since 2015, back when HOT was implementing Ramani Huria project in Tanzania and HOT wasn’t as big as it is now. Back then, you could interact with almost anyone because the team was much smaller and mainly focused on community mapping. I have seen how much HOT has changed, especially during the Audacious period. Since then, I’ve stayed involved with HOT in different ways, such as being a voting member and an active member of the community working group.

I want to run for the board because I believe it’s important to bring the local community’s voice to the board. Coming from the community and being involved in local projects, I think I can bring a community-focused perspective to the board. I want to work with other board members to help make HOT’s vision a reality.

This is an important time to run for the board, as HOT is reviewing its living strategy and going through some transitions. With my experience in the community, where HOT’s work is aiming to make an impact, I think my involvement would be important, especially in terms of localization.

Angela Odour Lungati Pete Masters Kenya/Kenya Angie brings a really interesting mix of skills and experience to HOT's board, many of them especially relevant to us as we transition out of this period of Audacious funding. Her current term as a board member has been characterised by commitment, a sharp focus, and a willingness to take responsibility for difficult decisions. Happy she has decided to put herself forward for second term. I’ve been serving on the board of HOT since October 2022, and i’ve been honored to have played a part in the search for HOT’s new Executive Director, and supporting the organization through that leadership transition, alongside brilliant colleagues who care about the organization and its mission.

I’m running for another term to continue supporting the organizations leadership through the evolution to a new board structure that can continue to provide the strategic support HOT needs to succeed in its goals post-Audacious. I believe that I can add value based on my experience with non-profit governance, and extensive network to support the organization further.
