Trail types

There are a number of types of waymarked trails in Ireland.

• National Waymarked Trails

• Pilgram Paths
  • a network of walking routes along medieval pilgrimage paths

• Slí na Sláinte
  • Slí na Sláinte, meaning "Path to Health", a scheme developed by the Irish Heart Foundation to encourage people of all ages and abilities to walk for leisure and good health.

• Coillte Recreation Trails
  • Coillte - Ireland's state forestry company provide recreational trails in its numerous forest properties throughout the country.
  • Provide Mountain Access Routes to allow access through their forests onto open hillside.
  • In addition, many National Waymarked Trails, National Looped Walks and Slí na Slainte go through Coillte properties.
