Eight countries are known to have conducted nuclear tests: list of nuclear weapons tests#Known tests. Several additional nations have been alleged to have conducted tests, but the reality of these are uncertain (due to differences of opinion over whether a phenomenon was truly observed, whether said phenomenon was a weapons test, whether said weapon was nuclear, and/or who was responsible) and so are out of scope for OSM until verified.

This tag is used to identify the nation responsible for a given test recorded in OSM using military=nuclear_explosion_site. Please use the name as spelled in the title of the English Wikipedia entry for the state in question.
