Public Transport

The city is served by the Manchester Metrolink tram system (Eccles Line Eccles Line, Altringham Line Altringham Line), which is currently being upgraded and extended.

There is also an extensive bus network, mostly run by private operators. Three free 'Metroshuttle' bus routes operate in the city centre.

Manchester is a rainy city in North-West England renowned for some of the best music ever produced. The conurbation stretches to include Stockport, Salford, Altrincham, Bolton, Bury, Ashton-under-Lyne, etc.

Within the City Centre, which for many covers the area from Salford Quays through to New Islington in the East, and Rusholme in the South, are hundreds of licensed bars, nightclubs, live music venues and hotels. Within the boundaries of the City are smaller areas that have their own unique slant - the Northern Quarter is often see as the creative district of Manchester and thus has most of the smaller independant bars, clubs and shops. Deansgate is a main arterial route into the city from the north and south, and is home to the 60 storey Beetham Tower, which houses a skybar, restaurants, homes and the Hilton hotel. Nearby Deansgate Locks provides an additional six bars to the Manchester nightlife scene.
