Naxa is a youth-led techno enterprise with a key focus on technological intervention for  DRR, good governance, sustainable development and innovation. Established in 2014 the company is one of the first geo-informatics service providers in Nepal. Its core expertise lies in digital mapping, data collection, management and analysis, and location based service development. It is also an early adopter of drones for surveying and mapping in Nepal.

The core mission of the company is to advocate for the optimum use of geo-spatial data and is driven by the motto “location matters”. Working on the intersection of GIS mapping and IT, the company has gained specific experience on the use of web and mobile technology for the purpose of geo-tagged data collection, management, analysis and dissemination.

With a diverse team of Geomatics engineers, GIS analysts, software developers, researchers, development experts and data analysts, Naxa has worked on technological interventions, capacity development, localization of frontier tech projects with several governmental, non-governmental, private and bilateral organizations. The company promotes the use of open data, particularly OpenStreetMaps and has used open data in most of its projects

  • OSM related Projects
    • OSM Bajhang Bajura: In 2019, NAXA provided technical support to Practical Action Consulting and one another partner to map out local resources, infrastructures, risks and vulnerabilities in Bittadchir Rural Municipality of Bajhang district and another_municipality of Bajura district in Sudurpaschim Province of Nepal.
    • OSM Terai: In the aftermath of 2019 Terai Floods, when the southern plains of the country was swept by monsoon flash floods, NAXA partnered with DanChurchAid to carry out OSM mapping of households, roads and other local infrastructure that were damaged or had risks of being damaged.
    • OSM Humla: From April 2019 to February 2020, NAXA carried out a technical assignment to map out local trails and infrastructure in Humla district of Karnali Province in Nepal. This
