Aerobridges at Denver Airport

Definition

A jet bridge (also termed loading bridge, aerobridge/airbridge, Jetway, or passenger boarding bridge) is an enclosed, movable connector which extends from an airport terminal gate to an airplane, allowing passengers to board and disembark without having to go outside. Depending on building design, sill heights, fueling positions and operational requirements, it may be fixed or movable, swinging radially or extending in length.

This definition was taken from Wikipedia.

Even if the aerobridges are movable, they usually only move within a few meters. This accuracy would probably not be a problem in OSM.

Proposal

Aerobridges should be tagged and rendered, because they are important infastructures at airports. I propose to tag it as aeroway=aerobridge. I knowingly picked the key as "aerobridge", because it is self-explanatory, that it is used on an airport. Whereas aeroway=boarding_bridge, which I first wanted to propose could be misunderstood.

Rationale

This new feature would add a very important part of international airports to the map and in certain way it helps to orientate oneself on large airports (number of aerobridges in combination with the gatenumber on the map).

Key

Maybe you should tag also the gatenumber as ref=*. I know that there already is aeroway=gate with ref=*, but I think it might be a good idea to emphasize which gates got an aerobridge.

So an example could look like this:

aeroway=aerobridge

ref=A01

Example

I already used this kind of tag on the Airport Bremen: Example for the usage of the proposed tag
