The key water_slide=* defines a type of water slide. The goal is to distinct water slides by common categories. This tag is added in complement of attraction=water_slide.
Rationale
Actually, to map a water slide, you can add the tag attraction=water_slide. There's many sort of water slides, especially in water parks. But actually, you can't define more precisely what sort of water slide is your object. Also, water slides don't all have the same public or the same access restrictions. The proposal's aim is to create a key and values to fill this need.
Tagging
To map the water slide, in all cases, add attraction=water_slide. The way should follow the descent direction. To further define the type, use water_slide=* with one of the following values.
Water slide type
Tag | Description | Image |
---|---|---|
water_slide=body_slide | A simple body slide | |
water_slide=inclined_loop | Riders are dropped down a near vertical slide and into an inclined loop | |
water_slide=bowl | Riders descend a steep drop into a round bowl, then circle the outer area of the bowl before exiting down through the middle | |
water_slide=family_rafting | Riders hop in a circular raft and travel down long, twisted 4,5m channels to the ground | |
water_slide=funnel | Riders drop from inside a tunnel out into the ride's main element shaped like a funnel on its side. Riders oscillate from one side to the other until they exit through the back of the funnel and into a splash pool. | |
water_slide=half-pipe | Like funnels, but without roof. Riders oscillate several times before coming to a rest at the base of the slide, then need to walk off the slide returning their tube to the next riders | Example |
water_slide=racer | A water slide where between 4 and 8 riders dive onto a mat and down a slide with several dips | |
water_slide=speed_slide | A slide where riders are sent down steep, free-fall plunges to the ground | |
water_slide=coaster | Mimics a roller coaster by providing not only descents, but ascents as well | Example |
water_slide=natural | A place in a stream where the rock has enough descent to use as a natural water slide. |
More about the water slide
- Name of the slide : name=*
- Access restriction tags
- Minimal required height : minheight=*
- Pregnant : pregnant=yes/no
- People with health problem : fragile_people=yes/no
- Maximum capacity of a slide for one ride : capacity=*
Around the water slide
Other objects can be mapped around the water slide. Here some examples :
- The swimming pool at the end of a slide : leisure=swimming_pool, with swimming_pool=plunge
- Stairs : highway=steps
- Roofs for waiting queue : building=roof
Applies to
Because it's used as a complement of attraction=water_slide, this applies to nodes and ways.
Rendering
Water slides could be rendered as blue lines with black border, as we can consider it as a waterway in a descending bridge. A small arrow could be added in the middle (the same as the one used for oneway roads), following the way direction to show the descent direction.
