The terms "labyrinth" and "maze" are considered synonyms in this proposals. A labyrinth or maze is an area filled with footways that are separated by walls, hedges, corn plants, or other barriers. People walk through them for fun, trying to find the exit. A maze may or may not have branches and dead ends. Some mazes also contain bridges, others feature fountains or obstacles. Mazes can typically be found in parks or theme parks.

If you have mapped the area of the maze, add this tag to the area. Otherwise, add a node to the center of the maze, and add this tag to the node.

Mapping details

It is possible to trace and map the footways using aerial imagery. If you do this, don't tag the individual footways as attraction=maze, just make them ordinary footways. If you feel really bored, you can even map the walls with barrier=hedge, barrier=wall or something similar.

You can tag the maze entrance node as barrier=entrance. If there is a turnstile, use barrier=turnstile instead. The exit can be tagged as entrance or turnstile as well. Note that some mazes have no definition of which opening is the entrance and which one is the exit.

Example

attraction=maze
name=Labyrint Drielandenpunt
fee=yes
