Proposal
My proposal is to create a key for NASCAR-related features.
Rationale
Tagging at race tracks is rather lacking - there's usually a way for the main track, a road course if applicable, a few service roads for the infield camping areas, and the pit road way. My proposal would fix that.
Examples/Tagging
http://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=19/25.45387/-80.40864 - Example of proposed pit road tagging. This example does not reflect the 11/19/2017 update.
Update 11/19/2017: At the guidance of a commenter, I have updated the proposal. All tags proposed here would also have "sport=nascar" within the same way.
sport=nascar
Tag which will group these tags together.
nascar=pit_box
Perimeter marking of a pit stall. Use for ways only. Typically denotated by a white rectangle where a car would stop.
nascar=pit_stall
Area marking of a pit stall. Use for areas only. Typically denotated by a white rectangle where a car would stop.
nascar=commitment
Marking of the commitment line. If a driver doesn't cross the line completely (i.e. two wheels on, two wheels off), that's grounds for a penalty. Typically colored yellow, with a small orange square on the end closest to the track.
nascar=pit_segment
Area marking of a pit segment. Typically marked off by solid white lines on pit road. Used to keep track of drivers and their speeds on pit road.
nascar=start_finish
Marking of the start-finish line. Typically denotated by a checkered flag-like surface.
nascar=victory_lane
Area marking of Victory Lane. Typically denotated by a checkered flag-like surface.
barrier=safer_barrier
Marking of S.A.F.E.R. barriers.
Applies to
This would apply to race track tagging.
