I propose a more layered approach to tagging such that where a physical object is created, some physical representation can be rendered, irrespective of the use it is put.

In other words, none of the amenities listed should be rendered as a physical object. They should be rendered as an icon or tag if the user has asked for them. Their physical representation in 2D space should be defined as far as possible by their physical features. In other words, in 2D or 3D space, they should be defined by the building or structure which supports the amenity.

I suggest "Amenities are Harmful". Instead, we should have a good representation of the structure which supports the amenity. We should then tag that structure with the use to which it is put, or the amenity.

I propose the 'use' tag to apply to a building, piece of land which defines the use it is put, or the amenity it provides.

I can see your point with thsi approach. Its very much in keeping with the same consideration for physical features. Streets for instance should really be described (classified) as to their physical attributes. The use to which they are put should be supplementary. Blackadder 16:07, 23 Aug 2006 (BST).
