Proposal talk:Antenna:use
Move to telecom=antenna
It would be great to not load man_made=* with antennas. telecom=antenna is better for this.
man_made=* will be suitable for antennas supports (tower, masts, ...). Fanfouer (talk) 13:00, 1 December 2018 (UTC)
- Not all antennas match 'telecom'. Examples? Radar, VOR. I don't think of TV nor broadcast radio as 'telecom' either. Warin61 (talk) 22:46, 1 December 2018 (UTC)
- Oh. I have deliberately made this a sub key for antennas, so it can be used with other main keys .. like telecom or applied to masts that have antennas like a communication mast. This way if can be used to detail any antenna with the same keys/values for those that want to add such detail. I'll make some changes to the text when I get to it. Add examples
I would like to add examples with pictures, is it possible? Fanfouer (talk) 13:00, 1 December 2018 (UTC)
- I have added photos to the main antenna page. There are a few applications that can have definitive photos e.g. radar, but not all. Some applications like television antennas change in appearance from one place to another. Warin61 (talk) 22:49, 1 December 2018 (UTC)
I think it is a good idea to identify the use that is given to an antenna. But I think the proposal as it is can be improved. First, the keys that are used to define the uses must not be from regional applications (BOS) or that are no longer used (LORAN). It seemed very good to put the links to Wikipedia, but it would also be good to clarify which word is used as the value. For example, you wrote "in global navigation satellite system - GNSS" what is the value going to be? Also, there are many other types of antennas.
