Proposal talk:Camp site pitch
Additional Tags
Comments on the Tagging mailing list have suggested some additional tags that might be added to a camp_site=camp_pitch:
- length=* - useful for caravan / motorhome sites
- width=*
- surface=*
- permanent_camping=yes and permanent_camping=no
Also see the list of tags that can be added to tourism=camp_site.
camp_pitch=* tags
The previous version of this proposal included a set of subtags I have created a new proposal page for these subkeys: Proposed_features/Key:camp_pitch --Jeisenbe (talk) 05:17, 10 April 2019 (UTC)
Tag | Description |
---|---|
camp_site=camp_pitch | This is a pitch for a tent or caravan or motorhome. |
ref=* | If the pitch is identified with a reference, usually on a post or sign with a number, use the ref tag to record the identification. |
addr:unit=* | If the campground has a street address with official unit numbers for each camp pitch, then in addition to using ref=* a addr:unit=* may be used. This reflects the similarities between an individual camp pitch in a commercial campground with an apartment unit within an apartment building or complex. However, not all campgrounds have street addresses so using ref=* is the more generally relevant option. |
camp_pitch:type=tent;caravan;motorhome | The things we can put on this pitch. |
camp_pitch:parking=yes/no | You can park next to your tent. If parking is shared by more than one pitch, then tag the parking location with amenity=parking instead. |
camp_pitch:picnic_table=yes/no | There is a table for exclusive use of the pitch occupants. If the table is shared then tag the table location with leisure=picnic_table instead. |
camp_pitch:fire=ring/stove | There is a fireplace or fire ring for exclusive use of pitch occupants. If the fire ring or fire place is shared then tag the fire location with fireplace=* instead. |
camp_pitch:surface=grass/gravel/concrete | The surface the tent or caravan will be placed on. Consider using surface=* on a larger area instead if the surface does not change across pitches. |
camp_pitch:electric=yes/no | There is an electrical hookup for this pitch. |
camp_pitch:drinking_water=yes/no | There is a water tap for this pitch. If there is a water tap but it is shared, then tag the tap location with amenity=drinking_water instead. |
camp_pitch:drain=yes/no | There is a grey water drain for this pitch. |
Multiple tents
It seems unduly restrictive to say that a pitch must be the space for 1 tent. In my experience multiple tents are usually allowed, possibly for a small supplement per extra tent, and this is the norm for groups of young adults who will tend to use 1- or 2-person tents. Even for families it is usual for teenagers to be in separate tents. Ecatmur (talk) 10:55, 20 April 2019 (UTC)
- Good point. Many campground allow 2 or even 3 small tents on one pitch, and there are also group sites that allow several tents in one location with the same reference number, within a larger campsite. I've updated the proposal. --Jeisenbe (talk) 12:53, 23 April 2019 (UTC)
Comments on previous proposal
1) Why the need for camp_site=camp_pitch ? Why not: camp_pitch=ref;addr;type;parking;table;stove;surface;electric;water;drain where if the item is listed 'yes' is default.
2) Grass pitches may move - to allow grass to recover from being camped on.
3) It should be clear that the part after "camp_pitch" should not just be made up. Those are OSM tags mentioned elsewhere. Brycenesbitt (talk) 23:26, 1 May 2015 (UTC)
