What about renaming this tag to something like wheelchair:central_key=*? Most people do not know the concept of central keys, so the tag should have a name that explains its purpose. --Head 10:04, 18 August 2010 (BST)

Central keys are available not only for wheelchair users but also for blind persons and persons with other impairments. The key has nothing to do with a wheelchair. Other central keys are used by fire brigades to open gates. It's just nobody started another value than "Eurokey". So: Against. Concepts of tags are explained in the wiki. Lulu-Ann

I agree that the the name should be self-explanatory, but not with a wheelchair: prefix. However I think "central" is a poor choice of term. The name needs to reflect the concept of access, rather than central-ness, I feel. "Central" seems to indicate something positionally in the middle. Linguistically, "centralkey" seems too much of a direct translation from the German, not really international English or self-explanatory. --achadwick 16:44, 21 January 2011 (UTC)

Internationalise the name, by which I mean, er, "more English"...

• Where does the term "centralkey" come from? It sounds almost as inexplicable as a "RADAR key" to English speakers, as if it were to do with the key being positionally in the middle of something. Perhaps the key hole is in the middle of the cistern? We typically don't run allthewordstogetherlikethis in English, so it looks to me as if this is a direct translation from German (possibly "Der Locus"?). Please at least stick an underscore in there for us poor Anglophones! --achadwick 16:52, 21 January 2011 (UTC)

Widen the scope of this, maybe?

• It would be nicer if the scope of this were widened further than merely access for the disabled, or for access to toilets. Is the primary concept you're trying top get across that of key-based access? I suspect there may be some tags in Taginfo (search "locked", key "access:key") which might be usefully reused - perhaps with a vocabulary of values based on the access key scheme name --achadwick 16:57, 21 January 2011 (UTC)

  There are other cases of widely-shared but hard-to-obtain-if-you-don't-know-how key systems; eg. British Rail padlocks; British Waterways, UIC railway keys, TSA 001–005 keys and the like. Hi,

I know that many Bürgerämter (Public buildings of the city) in Hannover sell the Eurokey if you show your disabled ID.

How to map these?

shop=eurokey ? Or vending=eurokey ?
