Long keys
A few of the keys seem unnecessarily long. Specifically, I suggest replacing after_school_care=* with just after_school=* and educational_paradigm=* with pedagogy=*, paradigm=*, or education=*. --Wtachi (talk) 04:43, 17 April 2013 (UTC)
Let's avoid using keywords which are uncommon, like pedagogy or paradigm. Wikipedia should be as approachable as possible, and that includes adults who use English as a second language. A good way to do that is to use the common words in the Basic English word list or other good lists of core English words wherever we can. I suggest the following changes
- "pedagogy" (in the sense of "theory of education") → teaching=<system> (or teaching:<system>=yes if there might be more than one). Rationale: not even every native English speaker knows this word. Theories of education, and systems of learning or teaching are more general, and the tagging should not be limited to pedagogic instruction.
- "kindergarten" → a suitable age range tag as thrashed out below. Rationale: using German loan words is fine if the're widely understood, and this one means something to many English speakers. However, that meaning varies a lot between countries (see wikipedia:Kindergarten)
- No use of the word "paradigm". Rationale: uncommon word.
We may want to look at using Proposed features/ISCED here too.

Why namespace well introduced tags?
Why do you propose a key childcare:capacity if there is the well introduced key capacity=*? Are there other kinds of capacity that have to be distinguished? --Dieterdreist (talk) 09:34, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
Redundancy of after_school_care
opening_hours=* would seem to make after_school_care=* redundant. There will obviously be cases where exact opening hours are unknown, so after_school_care=* is still useful, but should it be recommended even when opening_hours=* is present? --Wtachi (talk) 04:43, 17 April 2013 (UTC)
- I don't think it is redundant. after_school_care=* not only describes a temporal dimension of childcare, but the kind of care that is provided and the range of the age of the children that are taken care of. A childcare facility that is open from 12:00 - 21:00 is not necessarily an after_school_care. It might also be a kindergarten for parents that have to work in shifts. --Defonion (talk) 18:53, 17 April 2013 (UTC)
Disambiguation
The proposal seems intuitive but has lots of disambiguations. What if there is a kindergarten with an after school included? I'd propose amenity=childcare, childcare:kindergarten=yes, childcare:after_school=yes, childcare:after_school:opening_hours=*, etc. I know it's longer, I know it's more difficult to write but editors nowadays should really take care of this and this is the logical way to do it. --andreas.balzer 20:51, 18 June 2013 (GMT+1)

"Too much information".
In particular replace the vague keys like "kindergarten=yes" and "nursery=yes" with
- grades=1,2,3,4,5
- website=xxxx
or alternatively:
- age_range=1.5-3
- website=yyyy
Age range and website are where it starts for a parent. It is good stable information that's easy to collect and keep maintained. The grades should be as known in the local country (e.g. "bridge-K" is an option in the USA. The other tags I think are too detailed... but if the basics are right I guess they don't hurt much. - I agree, 'kindergarten' and 'nursery' are rather vague and ambiguous, and mean different things in different parts of the world. Also 'nursery' could be confused with a plant nursery. So better to just specify the age range or similar. --Vclaw (talk) 19:58, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
Really not keen on kindergarten=yes and nursery=yes. Thye do seem too vague.
Disagree on using grades=*. Do they have an international meaning?
Agree with using age_range or tag(s) that work similarly. See also Proposed features/age group or min_age=*/max_age=* (any others?). Lots of childcare places have age range information written on their signs, which makes the data easier to collect and more easily verifiable.
