Proposal talk:Gambling
leisure=gambling
First of all, the 2009 proposal is not abandoned. You could have commented it before creating your own proposal. One of the suggestions is leisure=gambling. Some people found it good on the discussion page, and that's why I have been using it for any kind of location dedicated to slot machine gambling or sport betting. leisure=gambling combines well with amenity=cafe/pub/restaurant, and the kind of cambling may be specified with a sub-key gambling=*. This looks all well-thought to me.
I don't like leisure=adult_gaming_centre, because it is too long, and it sounds sex-related (Strip Poker?). --Fkv (talk) 11:02, 28 December 2013 (UTC)
- The old proposal was proposed in 2009 but never brought to voting, which makes the proposal technically abandoned. It does not mean that the proposed tags are abandoned, of course. Adult gaming centre is the UK legal term, used both by the government and the venues themselves, and we follow UK English. Math1985 (talk) 01:05, 19 January 2014 (UTC)
shop?
A classical bookmaker is someone in an office where you enter, make your bet, and leave. I think that this is what shop=bookmaker is for. This is different from modern sport betting venues, where you keep sitting and watch the games, having a good time together with other people. It seems completely wrong to me to call that a shop. Instead, it matches the definition of the leisure=* key: "The leisure tag is for places people go in their spare time." --Fkv (talk) 11:19, 28 December 2013 (UTC)
