Other services? shop=workshop

Often there are some other related services exist with locksmithing, like knife sharpening, repairs (shoe repairs is on the picture). What about them? Maybe should we use some more generic tag, like shop=workshop? --Vovanium 22:15, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

I disagree. Most locksmiths have that as their primary service, just like stationery stores have primarily stationery but may also sell office supplies, grocery stores that may also sell stationery, etc. One can always tag shop=locksmith;shoe_repair;blacksmith if it's really necessary to specify all the businesses engaged in. I think shop=locksmith is common enough and useful enough to exist on its own, and I approve the proposal. AM909 16:55, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

Also, what services constitute a "locksmith"? Most home improvement and hardware stores offer key copying service. Does this count?

There are a number of mobile-locksmith companies in the USA that operate out of a central location which isn't open to the public. I agree that the building should be tagged to indicate the type of business, but how do we indicate which are open to the public and which aren't?--DiverCTH 04:58, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

The shop or the craft ?

The proposal should point out that a craft=locksmith is also possible if there is no shop but just a sign with a phone-number on a building facade. (see this proposal under work: User:MaZderMind/Key:craft) -- Pieren 14:54, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

Brazilian "hole-in-the-wall" locksmiths can hardly be called a workshop, they usually have only a small stall or kioske where they have their equipment and generic keys stored, and make new keys on the hour. Some have access to a workshop somewhere where they can change the secrets of a lock, or do more advanced repairs. --Skippern 17:38, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
