Proposal talk:Man made=footwear decontamination
Further classifications
Note that these do not form part of the proposal. They have been suggested in various discussions and might be proposed/used. Warin61 (talk) 02:42, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
Decontamination Method
There are many possible ways to decontaminate footwear. If seed removal is the only requirement then simple brushing may be all that is needed. In other cases a liquid may be needed as well. In laboratory areas a simple sticky mat may be used. Warin61 (talk) 05:01, 16 July 2018 (UTC)
If you really want to specify this then it has been suggested to use decontamination:method=brush/brush_and_liquid/sticky_mat/* Warin61 (talk) 05:01, 16 July 2018 (UTC)
Footwear
Some want to stipulate what footwear is intended. If required then possibly footwear=* Warin61 (talk) 05:01, 16 July 2018 (UTC)
Suggestions
Area
Don't restrict it to a node. If it's a large decontamination station it may be worth mapping as an area. Micromappers may want to map even small decontamination stations as areas. So document it as applicable to nodes and areas but suggest that in most cases a node will suffice. Brian de Ford (talk) 11:37, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
- If nobody wants to map one of these things as an area, no harm done. But it's almost a certainty that if you say it must not be an area then one day somebody will turn up with a valid use case for an area and then we'll find out OSM Carto won't render it as an area because the proposal stated that it must only be a node. - Great. I've already found a reason we'd want to be able to map this as an area, in New Zealand they've got small buildings as "cleaning stations", see https://weareexplorers.co/killer-footprints-kauri-dieback-disease/ Jonorossi (talk) 11:14, 30 July 2018 (UTC)
- It's probably sensible to rework the wording about it being unnecessary to use areas, maybe include that link as an example of when an area would be appropriate. Brian de Ford (talk) 11:10, 1 August 2018 (UTC)
