How to use?
Stop as a node? Would this apply only when all directions are presented with a stop sign? Rw 02:04, 25 October 2006 (BST)
- I too am stumped as to how you would use this, either as the actual node on a junction of ways or as a separate node. One cannot assume, even using logic which of the ways joining a junction has the stop applied to it. I know of several junctions 'T' and 'X' where the stop sign is applied not to the lesser roads but o the main road. For example I know a 'T' junction where a tertiary road joins a secondary road, however due to the prdominent traffic flows the stop sign is not on the tertiary road but one branch of the secondary road -- Batchoy 18:21, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
- I have been doing some thinking on this, and it seems to me that it would be used at a junction node when defining an all-way stop, but on a non-junction node when defining a single-way stop. However, that would mean that clients that do routing would need some logic within them to make appropriate use of the data. Currently, in my own mapping efforts, I will use this only to mark all-way stops until something has been nailed down. --Cohort 10:04, 12 June 2007 (BST)
"bearing"
It could be done that way. You place the tag on the node intersecting all roads, and add a "bearing" attribute, telling the direction of a car that would be subject to that stop signal. Example: you have a X intersection... The "stop" would be for people coming from north-east and those coming from south-east... you'd have stop:SW,NW (because we consider the direction, not the provenance). Basic definition please
I take it from the above discussion that we are talking about some kind of way of tagging a "stop" sign. At the moment nobody has actually stated this clearly on the Proposed features/Stop page though (never mind detailing how it would be used) -- Harry Wood 22:06, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
