Another networks

Added to these three kinds of networks, there is, at least, another kind. In Madrid there is a network for recycled water. This water, not drinkable, is extracted from wastewater plants, after processing and cleaning, and is used for watering some public parks and gardens.

Pipeline Corridors

In Sydney we have an above ground pipeline for drinking water which stretches several kilometers Here. There is land either side of it but I am having trouble trying to find an appropriate tag for the land use. landuse=industrial doesnt seem right, since it is publicly owned land. On top of that, mapnick doesnt render the pipeline (yet) so the only current way to have it visible on the map, is via the surrounding land. Such things need consideration in this kind of proposal.

Maybe tag the pipeline as an brdge=aqueduct as well as the manmade=pipeline , type=water, location=overground etc tags? This would get it to render although it does stretch the definition of aqueduct a little. InsertUser 15:31, 15 November 2012 (UTC)

Proposal template

According to the Proposed_features page, owner of this proposal should use the "Proposal_Page" template to have a better formalization of the work done there.
I'm interested in the water management domain and I wish I can get involved in that proposal.
But before any contribution, I would like to have the best understanding of what is currently discussed.

Don't misuse "location".

"Location" is already in use for other purposes.

I propose to use level=-1 instead.

That'd be layer=-1, anyway. But can there ever be a conflict with the "other purpose"? What is the "other purpose"? (Which is far less common, the first non-pipeline value is "outdoor" at only 416 uses?) Alv (talk) 10:26, 2 October 2013 (UTC)

groundwater measuring point

There are a lot of groundwater measuring points within boundary=water_protection_area. Map them as man_made=survey_point + type=groundwater ?

aeration objects in water protection area

There are aeration objects within boundary=water_protection_area: e.g. manhole=water with aeration object , pipeline=valve with aeration object. How to map?

Cistern

Need a tag for "cistern". In Africa there are many. It differs both from water_well and landuse=reservoir.

Micro-mapping/fine detail

Is there any scope or proposed/active tagging to allow the mapping of storm drain networks from the street grill level - the actual drain gratings aren't manholes so the man_made=manhole tag is not appropriate. I would imagine some to-be-created tag such as "man_made=grating" would suffice...? In combination with other tags such as "grating=drain" and "substance=rainwater" would adequately complete the description...?

I'm mapping new housing developments in my area and have sufficient access to map the subterranean features as they are installed and so am adding the detail. At the moment I can only go as far as the main pipework and inspection chamber manholes. If I could define the kerbside gratings I could more fully map the network in OSM... --John Grubb (talk) 00:00, 19 September 2020 (UTC)
