Comments

  • tourism= may not be the most appropriate tag for this. Not all fixed ships are tourist attractions. Shipwrecks for example can be very permanent. The River Princess is one such wreck that is unlikely to move any time soon: http://www.flickr.com/photos/xiol/119786297/in/set-72057594093482076/ 80n 15:03, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
    • there is a different proposal about wrecks: Proposed features/wreck -- Ulfl 12:56, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
    • i agree, it is not entirely appropriate, unfortunately there are no top-level tags that are more appropriate, unless and until we create the 'attractions' tag. this is not for shipwrecks, it is for ships that are accessible, easily, from land or by boat. i'm not sure i get all your points. shipwrecks rarely move, most of the ships this is intended for do not move either, if they do the location can be updated. • After reading the comments and consideration, I am still voting for this one. The proposal is about something that interests tourists, not about permanent ships per se, so it seems appropriate. An analogue would be that not all buildings are tourist attractions, but that should not stop some of them having a tourism tag. MikeCollinson 10:16, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

HMS Belfast is an example of a tourist attraction permanently moored battleship. It is currently tagged building=boat and name=HMS Belfast, but with an additional tourism=attraction node in the middle. see in Potlatch. That gets rendered nicely by Mapnik, but not in osmarender (draws two overlapping lables and no area). Anyway 'building' seems kind of wrong hey? -- Harry Wood 15:54, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

  • I dissaprove of this proposal. Not all permanent ships are for tourism. 80n 07:57, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
  • I dissaprove the key but approve the value. If you find a better key, I will 200% agree on this ! Pieren 09:00, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
  • I approve this proposal. It is about something that would interest tourists not a general tag for waterfront features. MikeCollinson 10:19, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
  • I dissaprove this proposal, as I really think we should stick to tourism=attraction and some note="This is a very cool ship" or whatever. -- ramack 15:35, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
  • I approve this proposal. -- Semper 15:51, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
  • dissaprove - historic=ship would be more appropriate ShakespeareFan00 22:04, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
