Detroit, of course, is a great American and world city that had 2 million people in 1950 and 700,000 today. Hundreds of thousands of vacant properties, grassroots projects, and city assets are in need of mapping and loving, alongside outstanding architecture, friendly people, and affordable travel accommodations. Detroit will inspire you like no other city can, and needs you more than any other city does. There's a burgeoning startup web scene that involves a lot of mapping, and a wide audience of people with interest in this conference, from the technical to the urban planners, grassroots, and city government.
