A Kent carriage gap is used by local authorities in the UK to prevent 4 wheeled motorised vehicles from accessing public rights of way, whilst allowing most horse drawn carriages to pass. Their use is common on byways in southern England.
The dimensions of the structure are defined by British Standard BS5709 (last revised in 2018), and are available from various suppliers.
Although there exists, at the time of writing, only one instance on OSM, it is clear that there are many more to be mapped.
