Land physically covered by gravel, independent from its usage. Used as a standalone tag.
landcover=gravel is used to indicate that an area is covered in gravel, sometimes surface=gravel is used for this purpose.
In some cases, a more specific tag might be more accurate:
- Use surface=gravel to specify that a feature, such as a natural=beach, natural=shoal, highway=*, leisure=pitch or amenity=parking has a gravel surface.
- Use surface=gravel as a standalone tag
- surface=gravel can be also used as standalone tag and is not worse than standalone landcover=gravel
- Also see natural=scree for areas of gravel and other loose angular rock fragments formed by rockfall and weathering.
- And natural=shingle for rounded rock fragments on a beach or riverbed, deposited and shaped by movement of water.
