This tag describes that a route=road relation is a city route in the network of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, with an S-prefixed number. The S stands for stadsroute, meaning city route.
On older signs the S is written in lowercase, e.g. s100. On newer signs it is an uppercase letter, e.g. S100.
