Self-brew, or ferment-on-premises, are businesses that rent equipment and space for customers to brew beer or wine for their personal use, as a hobby, without investing in all the equipment.
As regulated in Ontario, these are walk-in businesses - you don't need to negotiate and sign a contract, it's a different scale than a "rent space for your startup microbrewery" company.
self_brew_location was chosen to distinguish from a shop selling supplies for people who self-brew at home or elsewhere off the shop's premises.
