Bitmac is the modern version of tarmacadam, replacing artificially distilled coal/petroleum/wood-derived tar component with bitumen. Often used for low-demand surfacing, such as home driveways and pavements. Its typical operational lifetime is 10–15 years.
Distinction between bitmac and asphalt concrete is quite subtle, as result surface=asphalt is very likely to be used instead.
Bitmac is made out of softer bitumen - "of higher pen grade"[1] but otherwise looks and behaves very similarly, except being easier to damage and less durable.
