A  Boat lift is a machine for transporting boats between water at different elevations. This can be effected by  vertical movement or a  rotational movement.

This tag should not be used to map cranes that are used to lift boats from the water.

How to map

1. Boat lift

Draw a line and add the tag

• waterway=boat_lift
• lock_name=* - Name

2. Lock chamber

• Draw a surface area and add natural=water + water=lock.

3. Lock_gate

• Draw a line for the Lock_gate and add waterway=lock_gate

4. Building

• building=yes
• name=*

5. Canal bridge

• natural=water + water=canal + bridge=yes

6. Riverbank

• natural=water + water=canal

7. Canal

• waterway=canal
