The Europe Links does not work
The Link to the Download of the European Map (Europe (gmapsupp.img.gz)) does not work. Could someone fix it, please? thanks, C-we 14:34, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
I found Europe (gmapsupp.img.gz)). Can someone confirm that it is the right file?
The structure has changed. It's something along /aio/gmapsupp/gps_ready/ which is browsable (filename for Europe is gmapsupp_europe.img.zip, correct) --Steve8x8 14:08, 13 August 2010 (BST)
Europe map broken ?
It looks like that the All_Europe map is broken (build of 17-Dec-2010). Neither the .img nor the "Mapsource" version get loaded. I tried to rebuild the .tdb and had to remove about 10 tiles before it compiled correctly (I remember for instance 7005333). It was late last night and I didn't write down the exact error message from cpreview.exe (Read beyond data limit ?). Tiles too big ? --Capitaine Igloo 09:59, 19 December 2010 (UTC)
No updates anymore?
dev.openstreetmap.org, and its mirrors, ceased to host AIO maps about a week ago. Will they be back soon? --Steve8x8 14:09, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
Starting with Nov 2, almost all files seemed to be generated again (checked on dev.openstreetmap.de/aio), but only for 2 days. Now canary_islands is the only map to be built each day, and germany is missing completely. --Steve8x8 17:53, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
There are fresh files now on dev.openstreetmap.de, including Germany, only a few minutes old. Watching... --Steve8x8 17:18, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
Dark background colors
On my Oregon 300, landuse=farm results in a very intense color, making other items (including tertiary roads and power lines) invisible. Also I have found a similar effect in "national reserve" areas: it's almost impossible to see footpaths when there's a dark-green pattern all over the screen.
I'd like to ask for a little less saturation for areas in general, thus improving the visibility of linear objects. --Steve8x8 20:28, 3 September 2010 (BST)
Cooperate with geofabrik to exchange data
The OSM Inspector by (and at) geofabrik.de (http://tools.geofabrik.de/osmi/) allows to review certain inconsistencies of the OSM database - but there's currently no exchange of information between them and OSB (at least I haven't found any hints for that). It would be great if there was an additional layer in AIO showing their findings, and the other way round, if they could include OSB entries (currently the common denominator are "fixme" strings). --Steve8x8 13:09, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
Error 550
My be my fault, but every time I click on map download for Europe, I get "550 Failed to change directory". The link to Germany map doesn't work at all (Error 404). Does somebody know what to do? --Gypakk 07:01, 26 December 2010 (UTC)
Individual country downloads does not cover the whole country
If that's how it's suppose to be, it should be indicated somewhere
eg:
- ftp://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/misc/openstreetmap/download.openstreetmap.de/aio/regions/norway/gmapsupp/
- ftp://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/misc/openstreetmap/download.openstreetmap.de/aio/regions/norway/basemap/
Maxspeed seem to cover more/other areas. (looking at the tile map http://dev.openstreetmap.de/aio/tiles/ explains that I guess)
Maxspeed style doesn't highlight missing maxspeed tag?
Background mixed forests
I use the AIO Garmin maps on my Dakota 20 mostly on a mountainbike. The backgound (with the two kind of trees) used for mixed forests makes it very difficult to see tracks on the GPS especially when contourlines are "on". See these examples: http://ubuntuone.com/6z1KMHrJvhwwdImhBISiMi and http://ubuntuone.com/0ZM1VeHCeEkdPEOFR3knM4 Would it be possible to change this background or make the little trees much less contrasting? Thanks Alphons
