Talk:Altitude
Ellipsoid vs. geoid
When an altitude is measured in wgs84, do we mean referred to the geoid or the ellipsoid? Both are part of the wgs84. I assume it is the latter one. Maybe we should mention that explicitly.
What about referring to the geoid directly?

Removed "stuff"
I'm really not sure if User:grin was proposing the use of the 'alt' tag, or documenting something which everyone agrees on under the heading "Stuff", but that whole section was in contradiction with the information on Key:ele page, and I'm more inclined to trust a page where there's been some attempt to write clearly. I suggest we go with what's there, and if we want to propose an 'alt' tag, we need a more clearly written proposal page. -- Harry Wood 01:16, 15 June 2012 (BST)
Inconsistencies with the "ele" page.
I suggest this page be merged with the "ele" page. Currently, there is a significant inconsistency between the two pages. While this page calls for using WGS84 ellipsoid, the "ele" page calls for using the the EGM96 geoid.
