Use infection:hiv or hiv=yes, not disease:hiv

Re: using disease:hiv=yes

Please do not use disease:hiv=yes. Instead I would recommend using infection=hiv or hiv:treatment=yes / hiv:services=yes / hiv:counseling=yes, or just hiv=yes.

The "disease" part of the tag is strange because HIV is a virus, not a disease. AIDS is the name of the disease ("syndrome") you get from untreated HIV infection. HIV is the virus which causes AIDS. --Jeisenbe (talk) 19:38, 14 January 2021 (UTC)

The MapBeks team agrees and we will be using infection:hiv=yes --—Preceding unsigned comment added by MapBeks (talkcontribs)

Social Facilities

For social facilities there is already a more specific tagging system. See https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:amenity=social_facility and https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:social_facility --Jeisenbe (talk) 19:38, 14 January 2021 (UTC)

Mapbeks: We actually used some of the tagging schemes found on the social facility tag but I do not agree with the social_facility:for=diseased + disease:hiv=yes Actually it is from this tag where we though of using the initial "disease tag" and I agree that it does not give justice about HIV. I liked the social_facility:for=plhiv because it gives focus to the individual or community. --—Preceding unsigned comment added by MapBeks (talkcontribs)
OK, I agree with that too. Perhaps we need to talk about changing the Key:social_facility page. --Jeisenbe (talk) 22:06, 17 January 2021 (UTC)

Do not use health_facilty:type=office

There is no "healthcare=office" tag because we use the very common tag amenity=doctors to mean "a doctor's office or doctors' office".  Please use amenity=doctors for a facility with 1 or 2 physicians (medical doctors). There is also amenity=clinic for larger outpatient medical facilities (clinics).

Please don't use health_facilty:type=office. The tag health_facilty:type=* is from an old proposal and is not very well organized. In particular, this tag health_facility:type=office is confusing, because an "office=" tag in OpenStreetMap is used for administrative offices, not healthcare facilities. For example, a government Public Health ministry office can be tagged office=government + government=healthcare

The office of a health insurance company is office=insurance.  --Jeisenbe (talk) 19:38, 14 January 2021 (UTC)

Mapbeks:This is duly noted. We have removed it in our proposed tagging! Thank Jeisenbe!! :)

Specific tags, not description=*

Please use specific tags for this, not description. If you use tags then database users will be able to search properly.

1) "DOH HIV Treatment Hub" and Primary HIV Care Facilities (PCF)

The whole facility should be tagged as 1) amenity=hospital if it is a hospital with inpatient treatment (overnight hospital admission) - like morst DOH HIV treatment hubs,

or

2) amenity=clinic, amenity=doctors, amenity=social_facility, office=ngo depending on what kind of facility it is. An amenity=hospital has inpatient treatment, where patients stay in a bed overnight for perhaps several days, with nurses to take care of them.

If there is a special part of the building for HIV treatment (an "HIV/AIDS Ward") you can use healthcare=hospital_ward on a node at the location of the HIV treatment ward or floor or wing.

If there is an outpatient clinic inside of the hospital, you can add a node with amenity=clinic

To tag that HIV treatment is provided, you can use a new tag like hiv:treatment=yes There is also healthcare:speciality=infectious_diseases" which should be added if the doctors at a hospital or clinic or doctor's office are ID (infectious disease) specialists.

3) Identified HIV facilities (testing/counselling) "any identified facility (hospital, clinic, social office, or NGO) that is dedicated for HIV testing and counselling only."

Use "hiv_testing=yes/no" or "hiv:testing=yes/no" This would be clear say if hiv testing is available at an amenity=clinic, amenity=hospital, amenity=doctors, amenity=social_facility, or office=ngo

Use  "hiv_counseling=yes/no" or "hiv:counseling=yes/no" for counseling services.

If there are other facilities, like special housing, you could do other tags like "hiv:legal_services= or social_facility:for=plhiv --Jeisenbe (talk) 19:38, 14 January 2021 (UTC)

Definition of hiv:dispensary=yes?

Thanks for the updates, the new tags look good.

I don't quite understand the definition of hiv:dispensary=yes. Does this tag mean that antiretroviral medications, for treating HIV / AIDS, are dispensed from a pharmacy, or prescribed by a doctor, or both? --Jeisenbe (talk) 17:50, 16 January 2021 (UTC)

MapBeks: Usually, people go to these treatment facilities and show their prescription coming from a doctor. These are places where they can get the arv meds

name is for common name, not official

"formal name of respective office" - note that of common and formal name differ then name=* is for actually used one and official_name=* is for formal one (we also have loc_name=* for local/slang name) Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 13:43, 22 January 2021 (UTC)

MapBeks: I do agree with this! Thank Mateusz!
