Haryana fixes speed limit for various vehicles

Maximum speed of 90 km fixed for National Highways

Maximum speed limit of vehicles near educational institutes would be 30KMPH

On village roads, the maximum speed has been fixed at 60 KMPH

Chandigarh: The Haryana Government has fixed the maximum speed limit for various classes of motor vehicles in different areas and roads of the state with the maximum speed of 90 km being on National Highways passing through the state.

The maximum speed limit of motor car, motor cycle, scooter, auto rickshaw and light motor vehicle other than a transport vehicle would have to be maintained at 30 kilometers per hour near educational institutes and in all other places and within Municipal Area of all places, an official notification said.

The maximum speed of a motor car and light motor vehicle other than a transport vehicle on national highways has been fixed at 90 KMPH, for motor cycle and scooter at 50 and auto rickshaw at 40 KMPH. Notification

The notification said that on the state highways, the maximum speed of a motor car and light motor vehicle other than a transport vehicle has been fixed at 80 KMPH, for motor cycle and scooter at 50 and auto rickshaw at 35 KMPH.

On major district roads, the maximum speed of a motor car and light motor vehicle other than a transport vehicle has been fixed at 70 KMPH, for motor cycle and scooter at 45 KMPH and auto rickshaw at 30 KMPH. Village roads

It said that on village roads, the maximum speed of a motor car and light motor vehicle other than a transport vehicle has been fixed at 60 KMPH, for motor cycle and scooter at 40 KMPH and auto rickshaw at 25 KMPH. Pneumatic tyres

The speed limits have been specified differently for all the articulated vehicles with wheels fitted with pneumatic tyres such as heavy goods vehicle and heavy passenger vehicle and the maximum speed limit is 20 KMPH near educational institutes, 30 KMPH at all other places and within Municipal Area of all places except the portion of fly over, 50 KMPH on national and state highways, 45 KMPH on district roads and 40 on village roads, the notification said. – PTI
