Talk:Import/Catalogue/Japan KSJ2 Import
Proposal
moved from Potential Datasources#KSJ2.
National-Land Information Office, a section of National and Regional Planning Bureau(NRPB), Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport(MLIT), Japan, provides some geo data. http://w3land.mlit.go.jp/ksj2/
Licenses – Their terms of use is written in Japanese; a summary in English is as follows.
- 2-3. If you reproduce the National-Land Information or create derivative works, you must do a citation of the source (e.g., "「国土数値情報(○○データ) 国土交通省」", a literal translation, National-Land Numerical Information (XX Data), MLIT Japan).
- 3-1. You may use the National-Land Information free of charge.
- 4. Disclaimer. MLIT Japan makes no warranty on your use of the National-Land Information.
Accuracy/Quality – Almost National-Land Numerical Information is based on "Numerical Map 25000" by Geographical Survey Institute (GSI) Japan. Files are in XML format and datum is Japanese Geodetic Datum 2000 (JGD2000) which is based on ITRF94 and GRS80.
Currently, following data are available.
- Administrative district – created in 2007, with attributes of municipality name and municipality code.
- Railway – created in 2007, with attributes of line name, operator, classification and station name.
- Public facility – created in 2006, with attributes of facility name, classification code, address and administrator.
- Dam – created in 2005, with attributes of name, river name, scale and address.
- Lakes and ponds
marshes– created in 2005, with attributes of name and administrative area code (prefecture code and municipality code). - Airport – created in 2007, with attributes of name, classification and operation hours.
- Power plant – created in 1995, with attributes of name, classification and generating capacity.
I guess we can use these data like CC-BY/CC-BY-SA data as imported before. -- Tatata 10:52, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
- Can we provide sufficient "citation of the source"? See the discussion of the LINZ data on the mailing list where this is considered a big problem. --Colin Marquardt 13:22, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
- I think it's enough for this data, as I read FAQ on the site (written in Japanese), to put a citation of the source somewhere on the OSM site and in the data itself. So I add this to "Import/Catalogue" and put the words 「国土数値情報(JPGIS準拠データ)」/「国土数値情報(鉄道データ)国土交通省」 on its subpages. But I will add this to Attribution page later, since it has more appropriate page name to do a citation of the source.
- As to the data itself, I'm using some tags now; created_by, note, note:ja, source, source_ref. If k="attribution" gets approval, I will use it for new uploads. Or should I use it immediately without waiting approval? -- Tatata 10:18, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
We need refer '測量法' - the law of measurement
'国土数値情報' numerical geo data is published based on the law of measurement. The law offers us to manage its precision and correctness. It also defines procedure to handle data in clause No.29 and 30. http://law.e-gov.go.jp/htmldata/S24/S24HO188.html#1000000000002000000002000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 http://www.gsi.go.jp/sokuryouhou.html
A 'terms of use' is for download service but the data itself is regulated by the comforming law.
We should ask GSI: Geographical Survey Institute '国土地理院' of Japan government before importing datas. http://www.gsi.go.jp/

- According to Japan Map Center, a distributer of GSI's maps, the approval process was required to use a part of "National-Land Numerical Information" files in the past. [1] But it isn't required now. [2]
- Regarding GSI's digital maps (数値地図), the approval process is still required.
- I don't intend you to prevent from asking GSI about this. -- Tatata 08:49, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
- Just for reference, there are two "terms of use" on the page (国土数値情報利用約款). The first is for the download service (国土数値情報ダウンロードサービス利用約款) and the seconed is for the use of information (国土情報利用約款). So, I think, we should refer the second one, not the first one nor the law of measurement (測量法). -- Tatata 01:20, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
what for the aerial photos?
Does anyone know about the aerial photos, for example the ones available from http://archive.gsi.go.jp/airphoto/index.jsp ? What is the licence? (I don't understand yet the relations between MLIT / GIS / Japan Map Center). There are tons of aerial photos, both recent (~2007) and old (~1946). Nilx 01:43, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
