Talk:Key:board type
misleading tag name
Wouldn't content_type ord board:content be better? board:type would be better to describe whick kind of board it is e.g. a dennert fir tree or plate or something else. Ogmios (talk) 12:38, 12 July 2014 (UTC)
new key "building"
Lately I've seen a lot of information board with content about (well known) buildings in the area or (well known) single building. What about adding board_type=building?
Legal notice boards are specifically not for tourism
Legal notice boards are specifically not for tourists... they are for residents and tourists would not be wasting their time reading legal fine print. They contain court orders and land bureau notices. So maybe the tag tourism=information shouldn't always be used. Jidanni (talk) 11:18, 24 August 2017 (UTC)
- I second this. An information board about the parish or neighbourhood, or even an obituary, is not for tourists, that is true. In that regard, the wiki should be updated to inform that tourism=information is not required in those cases where information board is clearly not intend for tourism purposes. See also the first topic of this discussion about the information=board tag. --AntMadeira (talk) 08:57, 16 June 2023 (UTC)
- No, it shouldn't. information=* is an attribute for the tourism=information feature. This is different from advertising=* , which grown to become a feature, as man_made=advertising suggested is poor. --- Kovposch (talk) 15:34, 16 June 2023 (UTC)
- So what is your suggestion for these cases with no touristic interest? --AntMadeira (talk) 16:07, 16 June 2023 (UTC)

Persons?
Could we add a "person" value, which is used for boards about people, but not only for people, who are already dead (which would fit into the "history" category), but also about living people, who e.g. sponsored the place or something like that?

Directions sign
How to map something like this? board_type=guidepost possibly?
--Rene78 (talk) 15:44, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
- A "guidepost" should be a "post" with arrow plates on top pointing to the directions. Not fully logical on information=board.
- There are 6 board_type=direction 3092678252 3092678252 around this Park d'Ohlain 50°26′23.10″ N, 2°34′51.96″ E, although less than the 12 board_type=guidepost instances.

Goodbye sign
Almost as numerous as welcome signs, are "Thank you for visiting..." goodbye signs. So maybe mention them, and propose what the tag should be. Jidanni (talk) 23:01, 17 July 2023 (UTC)
