Electrode cables in HVDC transmission systems
Sometimes HVDC transmissions use electrode cables as metallic returns, either all the way or from the converter station to a electrode station at some distance from the converter station. Should such cables be considered as power carrying conductors or not? (they are typically isolated from the tower but essentially operating at earth potential). I would suggest yes as they complete the power circuit. See File:Skagerrak-hvdc-tower.jpg for a HVDC transmission line with three HVDC poles and corresponding electrode cables. --polderrunner 21:58, 6 December 2012 (UTC)
