conveying=designated

I believe that for Indoor Mapping, it might be useful to add another value for this key: conveying=designated, which could be used with highway=corridor to mean: there is a conveying walkway beside or in this corridor.

I would prefer if you used the :lanes suffix for that. For example, conveying:lanes=no|yes|no would mean that there is a conveying walkway in the middle of the corridor, between normal walkable surface. This has several advantages over your suggestion: You can express where in the corridor the conveying walkway is, how wide each part of the corridor is, and so on. --Tordanik 13:27, 12 May 2014 (UTC)

Moving on demand

Is there a possibility to express that an escalator moves not continuously but only on demand? For example, escalators that are not moving until you step on it, then they run for a certain time. Is there a tag for that?--Hno 09:12, 5 November 2014 (UTC)

Since the key conveying=* has it's direction a the value, it would be better to use another key. My suggestion would be conveying:on_demand=*. --Jgpacker (talk) 11:45, 5 November 2014 (UTC)
Another possibility would be a subkey for defining the "running mode", e.g conveying:type=* with the values on_demand, continuous and maybe some others. I don't know whether there are escalators switching between these values, that might be a problem here.
One more thing is: What do we do with "normal" steps using conveying:lanes=*?--Hno 17:11, 5 November 2014 (UTC)
I didn't understand the question. Can you give an example? --Jgpacker (talk) 18:30, 6 November 2014 (UTC)
