Yes/no values vs operator names

This page current says that in addition to yes/no values, maintained=* can be used for the name of the authority in charge of maintence. This doesn't seem like a good idea to me. Keys usually have either a constrained set of commonly used values, or are free-form text values. Combining both styles under one key is best avoided. The far more popular tag operator=* is used for the name of the entity in charge of a feature's operation. Operation includes maintenance, so I see no reason why the name of the authority in charge of maintence wouldn't go in the operator=* tag. If there is a situation where the maintaining entity is different from the operating entity, then I'd suggest using maintainer=* for that instead. -- Ezekielf (talk) 03:02, 18 July 2022 (UTC)

+1 to "If there is a situation where the maintaining entity is different from the operating entity, then I'd suggest using maintainer=* for that instead." and operator=* when this is not needed instead Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 06:39, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
