Question about terminology: C-road network

What is "county-specific C-road network"? Is it some USA term? Mateusz Konieczny (talk) 08:29, 11 February 2022 (UTC)

It's UK terminology. From the UK Government definition: "classified unnumbered – smaller roads intended to connect together unclassified roads with A and B roads, and often linking a housing estate or a village to the rest of the network. Similar to ‘minor roads’ on an Ordnance Survey map and sometimes known unofficially as C roads". They'd mostly be highway=tertiary. Relationship to unsigned_ref

It would be helpful if the page could better explain the difference to unsigned_ref and highway_authority_ref (where one tends to be used over the other, etc.). Confusingly, the same example image is used in multiple articles. Osmuser63783 (talk) 06:36, 10 August 2024 (UTC)
