Remígio Chilaule is #14 of 216 mappers who have worked in Mozambique in the last 2 months (as of 18 May 2020). He is an active mapper.

As always, I am concerned that equipment that we fund does not become private property at the end of the project period. It should be a collective asset available for further work by the applicant or by other OSM mappers in the Maputo area for a period of the project year and two years afterwards. After 3 years we write it off.

Thanks a lot for this inquiry. We (#MapeandoMeuBairro - [1]) are an established, legalized mapping/OSM community. We have completed many mapping projects which made good rational use of donated equipment. Until this day, we are still mapping with 4 cel phones and 2 laptops bought under a microgrant project completed in 2017. Likewise, the #1000km challenge is not an individual endeavor, and all funded equipment will be part of the community assets for this project and for future projects, all of which will always be intrinsically linked to building OpenStreetMap. Furthermore we are totally open to proposals about how to guarantee the non-privatization and to optimizing the use of the cameras after the project.
