Rationale

A spring is a point where groundwater naturaly flows out of the ground.

Spring are generally small feature, but of great importance in the landscape. Men have been looking for the source of the Nile since the Romans. The possession of the source of major rivers is prestigious (see the dispute for Danube sources). Some spring are impressive, like the fontaine du Vaucluse. Magical power is often associate with hot springs.

Some springs are build Danube source, the sacred spring of Roman bath (city of Bath, UK) or taped for use in spa

  • The various tag and attributes describing the water quality, and especially if it's drinkable or not is absolutely not clear
  • Why is it not natural=spring as listed in Map Features? Not that I prefer one over the other, just wondering... -- Fröstel 23:20, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
