UTF-8 problems

I had a look at the broken German street names in the OSM database. Looks like almost all of the ways where the street names are not valid UTF-8 have the tag <tag k="created_by" v="osmeditor2" />. Could it be that there is an encoding issue in osmeditor2?

  • Segmentation fault on "Read GPS" if no GPS data could be obtained

Compiling under Fedora 5

In order to compile under Fedora Core 5 I changed in directory svn.openstreetmap.org/editors/osm-editor:

1. Makefile

QTINCPATH = /usr/lib/qt-3.3/include
QTLIB = -lqt-mt
QTLIBPATH = -L/usr/lib/qt-3.3/lib

2. Way.h

97c97
<       };
---
>       }
99c99
<       int removeSegment(Segment *s);
---
>       int Way::removeSegment(Segment *s);

3. SRTMConGen.h

43c43
<       void generateShading(DrawSurface *ds,double shadingres);
---
>       void SRTMConGen::generateShading(DrawSurface *ds,double shadingres);

Attention, I do not know C++, so my changes may be very bad.

I don't know how to "make install" correctly. Changing in Makefile

53c53
<       $(INSTALL) osmeditor2 $(DESTDIR)$(bindir)/osmeditor2
---
>       $(INSTALL) osmeditor $(DESTDIR)$(bindir)/osmeditor

eliminates the error messages, but it doesn't really work.. the icons are not loaded if program is not started from svn.openstreetmap.org/editors/osm-editor.

Propose page move 'Osmeditor' -> 'Osmeditor (old)'

I'm going to move this page to 'Osmeditor (old)' to make way for a disambiguation page. This is because (despite being a thoroughly unimaginative name to give to a piece of software) there are several other things called 'Osmeditor': Something here: Editors/Django and something recently launched by ESRI.

...unless someone can think of a more useful word to stuff in the wiki page title. 'Osmeditor (QT)' perhaps.
