Talk:Osmosis/Beginners Guide
Discuss Osmosis/Beginners Guide here:
Needs work
This page needs work. It's mostly about installation, and entirely about windows. We already have a Osmosis/Installation page (though currently slim on windows details, so some of this could perhaps move there) We also have Java Runtime Environment with java install instructions.
The steps on this page are also probably a bit misleading / wrong. Fairly sure steps 6, 7 and 8 should not be necessary if you've followed a normal java set-up procedure.
I would expect a beginners guide to give more details on the kind of osmosis operations a beginner might attempt after installation. But then we already have Osmosis#Example Usage. And perhaps the Osmosis/Examples should lead into the examples a little more gently. Hence no need for a separate beginners guide.
I think this should be de-linked from the navigation template unless/until it has become a better "beginners guide"

- Agreed. I updated and improved (hopefully) the Windows installation instructions and moved them over to Osmosis/Installation#Windows. That leaves this page looking pretty pathetic. Maybe move some of the examples from the main page here, or write up a few simple use cases?

- I've shipped it to Quick Install (Windows) and Examples, and delinked this from the main osmosis page. This page could probably be deleted, but I can't see how --RichardMann 14:42, 11 July 2012 (BST)
- The thing to do is just redirect to where the content was moved to (done) -- Harry Wood 15:39, 11 July 2012 (BST)
