Talk:PGS errata

The beaches around Bournemouth and Poole shouldn't be used to compare the PGS data. Much of the beach is about 10m wider than it was last year, following a massive dredging / beach widening project over the winter. --Gagravarr 16:57, 28 Aug 2006 (BST)

I see that someone has started to import PGS coast lines for Denmark again. Is the shift of 1 arc second implemented for the area or not ? Dutch 14:45, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

Someone's importing this for Iceland as well, and it's, well, pretty rough. I guess this is better than nothing, maybe, but coastal roads from gps tracks are often in the water, or zigzag in and out due to the coarseness of the PGS. I've deleted whole sections where it tries to move upstream a little way, making a mess. Kpalsson 15:13, 26 September 2007 (BST)

It's better than nothing, so don't delete wee sections of it. Just fix any areas where roads disappear into the sea. Bruce89 17:10, 26 September 2007 (BST)

I think deleting areas where the PGS data goes up rivers is appropriate, as the PGS representation of rivers is very poor. It is usually non-continuous and bears little resemblance to the shape of the waterway. Just a single river way down the middle is better. Manual tracing of landsat imagery usually gives better quality than PGS data, especially where rivers are concerned. Daveemtb 11:03, 4 April 2008 (BST)
