Total staff or staff available?
Please clarify how this tag is to be used and how mappers can determine the information.
Should it be the total number of physician's names listed on a sign at a clinic, or the average number of doctors in the clinic on a particular day? At large hospitals how should this information be checked and updated?
While it may be reasonable to count the number of physician names listed on a sign at the entrance to a clinic or specialty office, it might not be possible to confirm the number of physicians employed by a large medical center. See Verifiability - approved tags should be things that an ordinary mapper can confirm to be true or false. --Jeisenbe (talk)
- I know of one specialist that works in at least 3 hospitals. He is not 'full time' at any of them, counting him as 1 doctor at any or all would be false as he is not full time at any of them. Warin61 (talk) 07:40, 2 August 2019 (UTC)
- In Europe the key metric is nearly all FTEs (Full-time equivalents). In the UK doctors are reimbursed by sessions with a number of sessions being 1 FTE. In most cases it is relatively easy to ascertain the number of staff in various categories for major hospitals. Rather less obvious for health centres etc, where all one can go by are the name plates. Many years ago I compiled such statistics for a range of European hospitals as part of an EU project.
