Proposal talk:Exercise point
Outdoor exercise equipment
It would be useful to say exactly what exercise equipment is available at that particular exercise point. I've looked at a few manufacturers and there could be close to a hundred different types of equipment. Here are a few of the basics.
Key Value | Description |
---|---|
balance_beam | for balancing |
parallel_bars | for dips and others |
pull_up_bars | for pull-ups |
push_up_stand | for push-ups |
How much should we expand this list? Or perhaps we should focus on the type of exercise rather than the equipment itself? - Joshdoe 14:03, 2 February 2011 (UTC)
Distinction with Tag:leisure=fitness_station? Abandon this proposal
This proposal was written in 2010 by User:Puhuri
It seems to have been ignored by User:Sanderd17 when he documented a tag Tag:leisure=fitness_station in 2012. That shouldn't have happened that way really (He should've developed this proposal in that direction, or at least referenced it as a competing proposal) but anyway... we've had that documented since 2012.
"A fitness station is an outdoor facility, a single or a collection of exercise material. This is typically operated by a local government, and free to use for everyone"
There's not much distinction between this proposed definition of amenity=exercise_point and that newer documented leisure=fitness_station.
I guess the good news is that leisure=fitness_station is a better tag, because we're mostly working to reduce "overloading" of the amenity key, and this type of thing clearly fits under the leisure key.
So with all of that in mind, at this stage I suggest we just label this proposal as abandoned and point people to Tag:leisure=fitness_station.
