Mix of accommodation types
The term resort for me also implies a mix of accommodation types - i.e., cabins (known as tourism=chalet in OSM), camping (tourism=camp_site), and perhaps a more traditional hotel (tourism=hotel) or B&B (tourism=guest_house) building too. Then often there'll be a central entertainment building and perhaps a restaurant along with features such as a swimming pool, play area, activities spaces/equipment hire. - is it required? We have tagged a lot of beach_resorts which don’t offer accommodations, they are only open during the day (and maybe the restaurants in the evening)—Dieterdreist (talk) 15:42, 18 May 2022 (UTC)
- Truthfully, I don't really know what a beach resort is. I've never been anywhere similar to what the wiki describes - it seems just like a private beach with amenities to me. Therefore I wouldn't expect accommodation there - otherwise it'd be tagged as something else (such as leisure=resort with a beach area incorporated in it).
- Whereas leisure=resort does imply some accommodation being offered (even if day guests are allowed). If it didn't, I think there would be other tags (e.g., amenity=spa, leisure=sports_centre, tourism=theme_park etc.) that would be better suited. I don't think the mix of accommodation is required but it is just what I envisage (and think is typical) from a UK perspective. Casey boy (talk) 16:07, 18 May 2022 (UTC)
