Artwork

Not all tourism=artwork + artwork_type=bust are memorials, but all historic=memorial + memorial=bust that I can think of are artworks. Is memorial=bust supposed to imply tourism=artwork + artwork_type=bust, or should these tags be set explicitly? --Fkv (talk) 01:38, 7 March 2018 (UTC)

It's a good question. In my opinion, a bust should always imply artwork_type=bust (after all, all busts are art works). But should an artwork always be a tourist attraction? --AntMadeira 13:32, 14 December 2019 (UTC -03:00)
I think these tags should be treat separately. I would say we should use historic=memorial + memorial=* for things that commemorates something (any real or fictitious people, events etc.), whereas tourism=artwork + artwork_type=* for things that doesn't commemorate anything (which are just works of art, for decoration). Could you give an example of artwork_type=bust which isn't a memorial? I've never found any example. maro21 13:53, 18 April 2021 (UTC)
Here are some examples of tourism=artwork + artwork_type=bust that are not historic=memorial + memorial=bust: [1] [2] [3].
I totally agree that historic=memorial + memorial=bust should be the preferred combination for busts with a primary function to commemorate someone. Yelisey90 (talk) 19:14, 19 September 2024 (UTC)

Misuse of name=*

name=* should be reserved to the name given to the tagged object itself (like "Bust of ..."). Similar to person:date_of_birth=* and person:date_of_death=*, I suggest to instead use person:name=* to indicate the name of the represented person (to debate: still called a person if it is the personification of an idea/god/goddess/...?)
