Possible depreciation

IMHO, mapping such things is very bad idea. Something B (talk) 11:13, 28 February 2021 (UTC)

you should argue a little more.
problem with the "stability" ? in several gardens, there are mugget, strawberry trees, irises, daisies in the same place for 30 years, it's more stable than many shops.
tag problem ? if there is another more suitable tag, advice it.
in my opinion what should be improved is to indicate that temporary objects are not filled in (but the majority of plants are at least annual)

From the content of the page, it follows that the tag should be applied to individual plants. I have nothing against mapping areas, but mapping individual herbal plants is a rather strange idea. Something B (talk) 12:37, 28 February 2021 (UTC)

@Something_B - in your massive page edit you claim "This tag is used by some mappers to mark herbaceous plants." Where is your analysis that this is indeed the case? I found a blackberry and hose hip - not herbs for me. You also claim that "For areas, more common tag is natural=grassland" - certainly for an area with blackberries, natural=grassland would be completely wrong. --Polarbear w (talk) 00:10, 1 March 2021 (UTC)

The article spoke directly about herbaceous plants. If you think this tag means something else, you should change the content of the page. As it was, it advised strange things. Something B (talk) 00:18, 1 March 2021 (UTC)
'herbaceous' was introduced to the page by user EzekielT in their newbie period, trying to be funny. However, some other mappers indeed use the tag, so a generic description is useful. --Polarbear w (talk) 00:31, 1 March 2021 (UTC)
As raised in the Community forums, I think this tag makes sense for particular specimens of note. For example, any plant listed here (yes, I know some of those are trees) seems worthy of being tagged as they are quite likely points of interest in their own right (rather than just being part of some display or collection). I wouldn't recommend this tag gets used for every single daffodil in my garden however! Casey boy (talk) 13:52, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
